Anne Anderson is passionate about helping teachers help students. Her lively, interactive workshops provide educators with practical, easy-to-implement strategies. Anne has a gift for connecting curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student achievement. She uses that gift, along with her sense of humor, to show teachers how to use whatever textbooks or technology they have – or don’t have – to enhance learning. Teachers leave an Anne Anderson workshop with tips and techniques to use in the classroom the next day.

Anne provides educators with sensible solutions for meeting the demands of high-stakes testing and preparing students for college and career. She brings extensive knowledge to the table because of her work as a classroom teacher and a district instructional coach. Anne has never lost her enthusiasm for teaching; she just traded her middle school students in for adults.

Anne’s training philosophy is centered on these three points:

  1. Know your stuff.

  2. Know who you are stuffing.

  3. Stuff them purposefully.

She knows her “stuff.” Her background in English Language Arts serves her well with the adoption of the Common Core State Standards. As a former Teacher/Consultant with the National Writing Project, she is able to provide non-ELA teachers with strategies for teaching and using writing in their content. Additionally, she shares tips and techniques for classroom management.

She knows who she “is stuffing.” She developed a good sense of audience which served her well as an 8th grade English Language Arts teacher. After all, anybody who spends 24 years and 9 weeks in the 8th grade is bound to learn something! She has the ability to quickly assess a teaching/learning situation. Anne focuses on providing research-based, realistic professional development that will make teaching easier – perhaps, even fun!

Anne “stuffs them purposefully.” She models teacher-friendly activities that engage students and increase learning. Her workshops are focused and applicable to classroom teachers, no matter the content or students’ ability level. With the implementation of the Common Core has come much confusion and misinformation. Anne clarifies what the Common Core actually says and how it should look and sound in today’s classrooms.

Anne Anderson is committed to helping teachers help students.

“Thank you so much, Anne! I loved the idea to use infographics with my students, especially the ones with lower reading abilities. Also – great idea to take words directly out of the Common Core State Standards to build that academic vocabulary.”
